The Lead Technical Designer is responsible for the design, management, and expansion of the in game tools used for designers to develop our game. Candidates will be experts in understanding development pipelines and communication with fellow designers and engineers.
The Lead Technical Designer reports to the Director of Design and will have additional technical designers reporting to them.
Responsibilities
- Critical eye for usability, quality, and optimized workflow.
- Documentation and product management of the created tools.
- Creating and refining systems to meet developer’s needs.
- Conceptualize, pitch, and iterate on mechanics with the design team that encourage improved workflow.
- Work with the Director of Design to set standards and expectations within the game design.
- Process and debate other design concepts, systems, and mechanics.
- Work with artists, engineers, designers, and production to implement and polish systems.
- Implement healthy design practices with people, tools, and workflows.
- Facilitate and manage healthy communication throughout the team. Support the team and its members. Foster a culture of open collaboration and trust.
- Think and execute strategically on long-term project priorities, deliverables, and risks.
- Define quality for tech design processes, partnered with the Director of Design.
- Evaluate current development pipelines and streamline/improve their experiences.
Requirements
5+ years experience in technical design or related fields.
Pluses
- Experience with RPG tools and systems
- Experience working in Games-As-A-Service and Live Games
- Experience shipping a console title
- Expertise in Unreal
