QA Manager

Thought Pennies Entertainment is a Role-Playing Game studio creating games focused on social storytelling. We celebrate diversity and a people-first approach to game development. We are fully remote.

We are hiring a QA Manager to help develop, build, support, and manage our Quality Assurance processes and teams. The QA Manager is a lead role in our organization, demanding expertise and accountability. They will be a critical part of creating a testable, stable, and scalable game and platform.

A successful QA Manager will partner with all of our teams to identify and develop testing solutions that scale through all phases of production and into a Live, regularly updated, game environment.

As a fully remote studio, Thought Pennies will depend on the QA Manager to manage a distributed team. This position will be an early thought leader, paving the way our team will operate into the future.

Responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders across all disciplines to implement testing solutions.
  • Define, create, and maintain Test Plans, Test Design Documents, Exit Criteria and other testing-related documentation for Features and Releases.
  • Implement and maintain bug/defect reporting requirements while providing guidance, training, and documentation.
  • Work with Production to guide bug and task tracking workflows, including required information and acceptance criteria.
  • Manage testing, feedback coordination, and bug triage of releases, including certification and testing requirements from external partners and platforms.
  • Lead and develop a world class Quality Assurance team.
  • Coordinate testing between QA teams and Feature Groups.
  • Develop and evangelize testing automation efforts.
  • Hands on testing, automation, and test plan development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of Game Industry Quality Assurance experience with pre-release and shipping games.
  • Deep understanding and experience of console certification and PC release processes.
  • Experience testing stores with in-game entitlements, with a plus for Free-to-Play.
  • Experience working and testing in multiple streams and branches for multiple platforms.
  • Experience working in Jira, or other bug tracking software, to track bugs and tasks.
  • Experience implementing and using test automation tools.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Experience testing regular updates for live games preferred.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4+ is preferred.
